Our Mission

Every healthy soda out there compromises that classic cola taste.

Our mission is to make soda how it should’ve been made from the start…classic cola goodness that won’t kill you. Enter dates. They bring the cola flavor, they bring the caramelly sweetness – and boom… you have The Original Date Soda™.

Now why the odd name? We want to provoke the consumer enough ‘till they stop tolerating manipulative buzzwords like “diet” and “zero”.

Decades have gone by and generations have been raised on natural flavors that are not natural, citric acid that doesn’t come from citrus, and preservatives we cannot pronounce. And now this generation is feeling good about sweeteners, not knowing what it takes to make them sweet.

Our Goal

Our goal is to provide the most original tasting cola without any of the harmful ingredients. We’ve eliminated caramel coloring, sodium benzoate, potassium phosphate, refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial and natural sweeteners, and the taste is still pretty damn good.

What Makes Us Not Not Not Healthy

  • Carbonation is acidic and although there are claims that it may have health benefits it has been associated with negative health effects, especially when consumed in excess. It seems everything is being carbonated nowadays, so be mindful of that as a consumer.

  • Citric acid is not as healthy as it sounds. Yeah… it’s not sourced from lemons and oranges… Conventional citric acid used in food and medicine is sourced from the fermentation process of lab grown black mold, Aspergillus niger. Though considered safe by the FDA, some people with allergies to A. niger, weakened immune systems, or chronic illnesses may want to avoid it or use it in small amounts.

Before the microbial production method, citric acid was extracted from citrus fruits. However, the fermentation process with A. niger is more cost-effective, which is why it’s the dominant method today.

Unfortunately, we are using this conventional citric acid. We are looking for a citric acid supplier who extracts it from actual citrus fruits, however they are hard to find. We already spend multiples of what our competitors spend on their ingredients i.e., dates instead of corn syrup/sweeteners and glass bottles instead of plastic to avoid microplastics and we’re not stopping until we are as confident in ALL our ingredients.

  • Natural flavors are not actually that natural. We are working with food scientists and formulators to derive natural flavors from actual natural ingredients. As a small business, this is currently above our budget as formulations can cost hundreds of thousands, but we are committed to making this switch by 2026.

As of now, 2/3 of our natural flavors have been switched to actual natural ingredients. This took a lot of research and trial and error to get the flavor right. For the time being, we believe our product is a healthy enough alternative while achieving the CLOSEST taste to a classic Coke or Pepsi.

  • We stand by the 40 grams of sugar, none come from an added source. All our sugar is from the squeezed dates themselves and the 2 grams of fiber make our sugar a complex carbohydrate. Dates have a low glycemic index so they are a great sugar alternating for pre-diabetics. But the fact remains - you are your own doctor as the adage goes, consume responsibly.

We believe it is possible for our food producers to be as heathy and at least transparent as we need them to be. Consumers just need to hold them accountable-and as a business we ourselves expect nothing less.

Our team at not*not are just as much consumers like you, we shop at local grocer’s just like you, we want healthy ingredients in our packaged foods just like you, we want to trust our food suppliers just like you. The food and beverage revolution has just begun.
